Our Approach
GPS clinicians offer strengths-based, client-centered treatments that are supported by decades of psychological research. Your sessions will build you up and help you achieve the solutions you are looking for. Our trauma-informed clinicians are versed in interpersonal neurobiology and are mindful of the fact that our experiences in relationships influence us at a molecular level beyond what we are able to see in the behavior of ourselves and others. We value diversity and understand that we all come from different backgrounds and experiences. We know that it is a privilege to get to be part of your story for a short time. Ultimately, whatever brings you to therapy, our goal at GPS is to provide you with a therapist who values and respects you, your background, your story, and your goals. If you're ready for a life-changing experience, fill out our contact form and let us help you to “Find your new direction!”

Individual Therapy
We offer individual therapy for adults, teens (12-17), young adults (18-25), and older adults (65+). Our diverse clinicians enjoy working with clients from all backgrounds. We find that even when we may differ in some category of life experience, be it race, religion, family traditions, economic background, or any other variable, diversity always serves to enrich the discussion through hearing new perspectives and approaching conversations with humility. Though your therapist is an expert in managing mental health crises, communication difficulties, and other issues, only YOU are the expert on your story.
Individual therapy can be helpful for a wide variety of concerns, such as depression, anxiety, trauma recovery, relationship struggles, career transitions, grief work, eating/food and weight concerns, major life stage transitions, and many others.
Couples Therapy
Whether you are in a relationship and considering marriage, in a relationship and simply wanting to work on some stuck points in your communication, or you have been in a long-term relationship or marriage and have hit the point where therapy is your last resort, couples therapy may be a good fit for you. Couples therapy tends to work best when both partners are interested in the relationship succeeding, and when both partners are open to examining their own contributions to the relationship. Our therapists use clinically proven methods that have helped thousands of couples all over the world to find renewed safety, commitment, and passion in their relationships.
Couples therapy can help you and your partner examine what is going well in the relationship, what is unhealthy and needs to change, and how you can work together to respectfully and lovingly challenge each other to be your best selves both in the relationship and life in general. While our desire as couples therapists is primarily to save and grow healthy relationships, sometimes the best (and safest) thing to do is to move on from unhealthy and toxic relationships.Your therapist can help you determine whether there is a clear path forward in the relationship, or whether it may be time to consider other options.

Family Therapy
Sometimes the best way to approach a problem is with the entire family, or at least more than just the identified client. Often the person presenting with mental health symptoms serves a representative of the family, bearing the burden of unhealthy patterns in family dynamics that can be addressed together during sessions. Sometimes people simply respond better to clinical interventions when they have the active presence and support of family members in session.
Family therapy also creates an opportunity for increased accountability for following through on treatment recommendations, as the family is often directly involved in the healing process rather than watching their family member from the sidelines. Family therapy has been used for decades as a consistently effective way to address a great many problems from depression, to insecurity, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, eating/food and weight-related issues, and more.
